Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show 2019

Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show 2019

September 10-12, 2019 – Woodstock, ON

Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show, one of the largest agricultural show in Canada, where farmers all over the country come to visit. The show was opened from September 10th-12th, 2019 and this year Genrep has decided to take part in the show for its 25th anniversary. For three consecutive days, Genrep sent out a team to represent its line of generators, engines and parts. Exclusively, FPT also sent some representatives to the show to help support Genrep in educating visitors about the power of FPT engines.

From agricultural products and livestock to equipment and machinery, this farm show is organized every year and the place to be for many farmers. Genrep displayed the 100kW Aksa and 20kW Sentry V generators, and FPT’s newest engines the NEF 67 Power Pack, N67, Cursor 16, and F34.

Meet NEF 67 Power Pack: FPT newest engine!

FPT came out with an upgraded version of their N67 Tier 4 final engines. The NEF 67 Power Pack comes as an ATS smart installation package where all key after-treatment components fit into one compact and pre-assembled set. The benefits of this new engine set are that there is no need to design an exhaust system, the installation is fast, and everything comes as one pre-packed solution.

BAUDOUIN CELEBRATES 100-YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Baudouin logo -Genrep Canadian distributorship

2018 marks a special milestone for the marine engine and generator manufacturer

This year, Genrep’s newest engine line, the iconic brand Moteurs Baudouin is celebrating a very special milestone: its 100-year anniversary.

From humble beginnings making petrol engines for fishing boats, it has grown into a leading force in the marine industry, globally recognised for its durable, reliable and efficient engine and power generation products.

A century ago, in 1918, Charles Baudouin set to work creating his first 5hp engine, constructed just a few meters from the Mediterranean Sea, in a small metal foundry in Marseille, France.

And in the ten decades since, the engines have become cutting edge, and the customer base has grown to include a variety of applications both at sea and on land. But one thing remains: marine is in Baudouin’s DNA.

This marine heritage lies at the heart of Baudouin’s success. In the unforgiving environment at sea, there is no room for unreliable engines. So even when used in power generation applications, customers are assured that every Baudouin product is crafted to the same exacting standards demanded of the harsh ocean-going environment… durable, robust, and built to last.

This is evident in the company’s comprehensive range of engines and generators. Such as the tough M26.2 series, and the latest M26.3 common rail engine range which extended marine power to 1650hp while offering unmatched continuous power to weight ratio and noise reduction technology.

In 2017, Baudouin launched their innovative PowerKit range of engines for power generation applications. Using the same design philosophy of the marine engines, every PowerKit product includes the engine, cooling system and air cleaner, with a choice of outputs spanning 15 to 2000 kVA for both 50 and 60 Hz applications.

In addition to high-end components and engineering excellence, every PowerKit product is backed by one of the best warranty programs on the market: 2 years and unlimited hours for prime power applications, and 4 years for standby power applications.

Baudouin also delivers some of the longest intervals between servicing and overhauls in the industry. This, combined with excellent fuel economy, gives their engines one of the best and most competitive ‘total cost of ownership’. Yet another reason clients all over the world trust Baudouin to stay up and running, whatever their power needs.

“As we enter a new century in Baudouin’s history, durability, reliability and clean power remain our key focus areas,” says Fabrizio Mozzi, the company’s President and Managing Director.

“Our completely new and extended product range meets the most stringent customer requirements, allowing us to access the majority of global markets and applications. We have never been better equipped to power our clients’ success, as we look to the next 100 years of excellence in the engine industry.”

Genset Battle Royale; Diesel, Natural Gas or Bi-fuel!

diesel fuel vs natural gas vs bi-fuel genrep

Genset Battle Royale Diesel, Natural Gas or Bi-fuel!

Canada has a variety of fuel options for commercial and industrial power generation. Diesel fuel has historically been the top contender since there have been diesel engines available in the industrial market. They are rugged, reliable, and much more efficient than gasoline. With time comes innovation, and today there are many different industrial power generation options. But which one is the best? Let’s see if Diesel will hold on to its championship title or if it will be overthrown by Natural Gas or Bi-Fuel?

Current Champion: Diesel Fuel

Canada has a variety of fuel options for commercial and industrial power generation. Diesel fuel has historically been the top contender since there have been diesel engines available in the industrial market. They are rugged, reliable, and much more efficient than gasoline. With time comes innovation, and today there are many different industrial power generation options. But which one is the best? Let’s see if Diesel will hold on to its championship title or if it will be overthrown by Natural Gas or Bi-Fuel? Diesel is used a lot in remote areas where there is no access to Natural Gas. Diesel is shipped to these locations and is used for everything from vehicles to power generation. There are no spark plugs or wires which reduces maintenance costs and engine failure. Diesel fuel is one of the most efficient and energy-dense fuels available today. Diesel can be used for prime or standby power applications, and has the ability to provide power to small loads or up to huge 6 Megawatt loads. Unfortunately, Diesel is not the cleanest source of fuel. It’s bad for the environment as it creates filthy particulates, but there are stiff regulations in place to move industrial Diesel engines into Tier 4 Final emissions standards. As well, Diesel cannot be stored too long or it starts to breakdown and becomes unsuitable for use, causing damage and clogging filters if used.

Challenger to the right: Natural Gas

Challenger to the right: Natural Gas Natural Gas is extremely abundant in Canada and is becoming more and more readily available. A major advantage is that it does not create particulates, so it is a much cleaner fuel. Natural Gas is a fraction of the price as compared to Diesel. However, Natural Gas is not as powerful as Diesel. The initial cost of the engine is a little higher but the gas itself is cheaper. The offset is you may consume more Natural Gas than Diesel for equivalent power output. The biggest problem with Natural Gas is that remote areas requiring power generation must get a lot more complex with how they store it as compared to Diesel. It is possible to compress it down to liquid form and store it using a cryotank, but this makes the process costlier. In summary, the Natural Gas generator option maybe the best option for urban areas but not as much in rural or remote areas. Natural Gas also has the option to be used in cogeneration or CHP (learn about CHP here) which has amazing efficiency and is much more environmentally friendly

Challenger to the left: Bi-Fuel

Challenger to the left: Bi-Fuel This isn’t the new guy; Bi-Fuel has been around as long as Diesel. It’s been used since the 1930’s before the power grid expanded into rural areas; these Bi-Fuel engines could be found all over the world! They were taken out of service due to the economic benefits of the power grid but the concept is gaining popularity again. The push for cleaner energy, and reducing imported oil is at the top of the governments reoccurring issues. Diesel fuel prices are on a steady rise along with gasoline, while Natural Gas stays low and inexpensive. These Bi-Fuel systems that allow mixing of Diesel and Natural Gas can harness the efficiency and higher torque of Diesel, while also taking advantage of the cleaner emissions and lower cost of Natural Gas. This option is more powerful than just Natural Gas option. It is also more expensive that either option.

Genset Battle Royale Diesel, Natural Gas or Bi-fuel!

Each challenger has its pros and cons for power generation. Bi-Fuel can be complex and expensive to get started up, but offers a cleaner option than Diesel and a more powerful option than Natural Gas. Diesel can be used anywhere and is the absolute most powerful, but it comes with a huge environmental cost until regulations are fully implemented. Then there is Natural Gas which is hands-down the cleanest option – also perhaps one of the cheaper options – but it’s limited on power and where it can be used. The selection comes down to application, location and cost, as well on environmental considerations.

Genrep offers Seneca Power Generation brand generators. These commercial or industrial heavy duty generators come in a variety of fuel types. Seneca offers Diesel, Natural Gas and Bi-Fuel options; we work with you to ensure the best power product for your application. Click here to learn more http://genrep.com/products/generators/
